Curbed Ski put together a walk through the evolution of our Jackson Hole Mountain Resort through the historical ski maps.
“With 2,500 acres of in-bounds terrain and a leg-burning vertical drop of 4,139 feet, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is one of the most iconic resorts in the west. And although William O. Owen is credited with the first ascent of the Grand Teton in 1898 and skiing started on nearby Snow King in the late 1930s, construction on Jackson Hole Mountain Resort didn’t begin until 1964. Apres Vous Mountain opened in 1965, and a year later the iconic 52-person Jackson Hole Aerial tram took people to the top of Rendezvous Mountain. The mountain looks a little different now compared to its opening days in the 1960s, so let’s take a tour through old ski maps to see how things have changed.”
